AJS Design/s is located in the heart of NYC's flower district. Our studio is a converted loft, once home to one of the many fur manufacturers in the area. It offers us an inspiring headquarters where we meet with clients and are part of the city’s vibrant history.

Abby Shachat, the owner of AJS Design/s, lives in Brooklyn with her twin sons and their dog Olive. She has made her home in a 1920’s 12-foot-wide, brick row house that now appears far wider than it does on paper.  Abby is a graduate of Cornell University and earned her MFA from the iconic Cranbrook Academy of Art. Outside of the studio, Abby can be found on the weekend honing her eye looking at art, making sculptures and shooting archery with her handmade longbow.

Ravit Nimni-Avramovitz has been part of AJS for more than 15 years as a senior designer/project manager. A native of Israel, she lives in the West Village with her two daughters and her husband. Creating a home for her family in the city is central to her life and gives her much to draw on when designing residences for our clients. Ravit holds an architectural degree from Pratt Institute. On the weekends she loves cooking and perfecting her best “downward dog”.
